Far Peak is what happens when a climbing centre and a campsite share a hilltop farm in the middle of the Cotswolds. Days here have a rhythm: morning on the indoor climbing wall, bouldering barn or padel courts, afternoon exploring Northleach and the Coln Valley, evening around the fire pit waiting for the wood-fired pizza oven to hit temperature.

The camping fields are spacious and relaxed, with campfires allowed and big skies in every direction. The on-site café does proper coffee and cake, and the pizza nights are the stuff of local legend. For families with restless tweens and teens, that climbing wall is worth its weight in gold on a drizzly day.

Why children love it

  • Indoor climbing wall and bouldering barn with instructed sessions
  • Wood-fired pizza nights in high season
  • Campfires allowed, fire pits and wood available on site

Days out nearby

  • Northleach's medieval wool church and Old Prison café (walkable)
  • Chedworth Roman Villa, National Trust (10 minutes)
  • Bourton-on-the-Water (15 minutes)

Know before you go

  • Book climbing sessions ahead in school holidays.
  • The A429 is close, pitches further into the farm are quietest.
  • Northleach is one of the Cotswolds' most underrated small towns, don't skip it.

The honest bit

The A429 is close enough to hum on still nights, so pick a pitch deeper into the farm if you are a light sleeper.
