This neat Club site sits right beside the Kennet and Avon Canal near Seend, a few miles from Devizes, and the towpath is the whole holiday: flat, safe, traffic-free walking and cycling in both directions, with narrowboats to wave at every few minutes. Pedal towards Devizes and you reach the spectacular Caen Hill flight, 29 locks climbing the hill in a perfect staircase.
Devizes is a handsome market town with a brewery (the shire horses still deliver locally), a great little museum of Wiltshire's prehistory, and family pubs. The site itself is friendly and well kept, with a play area and plenty of grass. A brilliant base for gentle, wheels-and-water family days.
